artist statement:

This hand-stitched conceptual piece is inspired by prayer flags and party bunting. Upended bank bags act as emptied prayers and are held together with running stitch – commentary on the current market and fast-rising housing prices. In order to celebrate owning a home, if at all, one must have a plentiful collection of symbolic bank bags to empty. Once successful with the house, will there be need to make do and mend? DIY the decorations?

materials: made from reclaimed materials; old fabric bank bags, bedsheet fabric, cotton thread.
