I searched in glaciers and caves
to find the yarn to knit over
the holes in me. Only when time
flicked the clock back a second
did it sink in. I don’t think anyone
else saw it. Nobody knew the plug
was coming nor did they know
how to face me full up. I think some
walked around me slightly wider
in case I overflowed all over them.
No need for an excuse to squint I
traded the monocle in for a skylight.
The bright-eyed world put out a
welcome so I rode from hilltop
into sunset to pick it up.
